Multiply and divide rational numbers
This Desmos AB consists of six auto-scoring questions with the following depths of knowledge:
  1. DoK 1
  2. DoK 1
  3. DoK 1
  4. DoK 2
  5. DoK 2
  6. DoK 3
The last question is an Open Middle that challenges students to create a quotient of fractions (positive and negative) with the greatest possible value. Quotients that do not balance the equation result in the on-screen feedback "[Fraction from the LHS] and [fraction from RHS] are not equivalent." Quotients that do balance the equation but do not create the greatest possible value elicit "That equation is correct.... but there is a larger quotient that will also balance the equation." Quotients that both balance the equation and create the greatest possible value confirm to students "That is 🎉 the largest possible value 🎉"
Adding fractions on a number line
Individuals. Provides a number line visual for how to add ⅔ + ¾ (i.e., set for only one problem), provides students with slow-reveal step-by-step instructions, and a solution. Make two fractions using the red and green slider boxes and pull down the slider on the bottom left of the applet to slowly reveal the steps. Be sure to check the boxes as they are revealed after you have thought about what the procedure should be.
